IN-PERSON SESSIONS

I can travel to any Seattle metro area studio that is following COVID-19 safety guidelines when an engineered session is needed. Caught me on the road? Ask about finding an IDSN or SourceConnect studio in my travel area.

CLIENT-DIRECTED SESSIONS

Join me in my home or road studio from wherever you are via phone, Skype, or Zoom to direct my performance as I record it. You’ll received raw audio or edited WAV or MP3 files within 24-hours.

SELF-DIRECTED SESSIONS

The most-requested option. Free up your time spent in session and simply send an email with your script and concept, and I’ll record takes on my own (one round of retakes included in the session cost) and send you the WAV or MP3 files.

VO FAQs

  • I do! I have an acoustically-treated home studio setup in my Seattle basement that can accommodate client-directed sessions. I use a Røde NT-1A Large-Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Mic with Shockmount, Pop Shield, and Mogami Gold XLR Cable, powered by a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface.

Need Source-Connect? Let me know, but most clients get it done with Zoom or Skype and I’ll send you the files after our session.

I frequently take my studio on the road with the help of the travel-friendly Porta-Booth Pro — a professional, portable sound booth for studio quality recording on the road with superior sound with Auralex Acoustics — and Shure X2u audio interface and Sennheiser HD 280 PRO studio monitoring headphones.

  • Yes! My favorite. I’m available for in-studio professionally-engineered sessions in Seattle from May-October. During the winter months I travel and am always willing to work with you to find a IDSN or Source-Connected studio near me. Contact me directly for availability and booking.

  • My favorite response: What’s your budget?

Since every project is different in scope, timeline, and usage, I follow the GVAA Rate Guide to determine rates.

Not sure about usage or working within a client budget? Contact me for a quote and we’ll work together to find the appropriate rate.

  • There are several factors considered for each quote:

Genre: What type of project is it? For example: broadcast commercial, corporate narration, explainer video, telephony (IVR or message on hold), eLearning, medical narration, etc.

Length: How long is the finished project? This can be measured in time, word count, or page count depending on the genre.

Usage: Where and how will the product be used? For broadcast (TV and/or radio): Which markets? How many markets? Size of market(s)? For the Web: On a website? For paid web advertising? Social media? YouTube? For internal corporate use? An accurate quote requires knowing the usage for your project.

Duration: How long will the voiceover be used? 3 months? 6 months? 1 year?

Budget: Hopefully, you've done your homework and have a reasonable, fair market value budget in mind. If not, I can provide objective, industry-standard information to educate you on reasonable rates. Want to read about them yourself? You can do that here.

  • For self-directed sessions, it goes something like this:

1- You send me your script via email and let me know how and for how long the audio will be used. Mentioning your budget here is helpful.

3- I send you a quote almost always within two hours. Retakes and revisions are covered here. I typically book within standard US non-union industry rates and you can read about them here.

4- We agree to move forward.

5- We discuss the creative direction and tone and style of the read you’re looking for.

6- I record, edit, and send you the audio via email attachment, Google Drive, WeTransfer, or Dropbox.

7- You sign off the audio or request any retakes.

    8- I send the invoice.

    9- You pay the invoice.

10- Success! We look forward to working together again :)

  • My current average workload allows me to turn around typical projects in one business day or less. If you need extra-tight turnaround, by all means, let’s talk! Larger projects and music or video syncing obviously take longer and depend on the scope.

  • Short answer: Any way you like.

I can output files in WAV or MP3 format, and typically deliver them via email or Google Drive. If you have another preferred delivery method (Dropbox, WeTransfer, etc.), just let me know.

  • Non-script-correct mistakes on my part are always fixed for free. For the complete policy on retakes and revisions, click here.
